“The first thing to know is it is a *lot* of time in the vehicle. Because of the timing, you spend at least an hour in the car fighting through Santiago traffic. Then it’s about an hour to the chocolate house and another hour to the hot springs. Most of it is smooth roads and only the last 20 minutes to the hot springs and coming back are bumpy. Once you leave Santiago, it’s a great trip. The views are incredible for the remainder of the drive and the hot springs are really fun and scenic as well. The barbecue is great too. “This was a good trip, allowing us 1.5 hours at the hot springs which was great and allowed us enough time to take in the scenery kf the El Yeso reservoir. The picnic was also lovely although served at the start in the morning, at El Yeso, so not really a lunch. One thing to note is that our trip was 14 hours in total as there were additional stops to a restaurant and a chocolate shop/ice cream (cost not included) which consumed about 2 hours and I don’t personally think was necessary.
